Ahhhh Romania, this has brought back so many memories, I am just not ready to change subjects quite yet. This was the "Last Sunflower Standing"! Sunflower seeds were my granola growing up in South Dakota, but I never saw them growing in a field like I did in Romania. Now and then the bus driver understood exactly what we were saying... but when we tried to get him to stop for us to take a picture of the fields of sunflowers, "no speakay Englesh". Well, something like that. He never stopped.
Have sewing machine, lots of extra fabric, how about some "SCRUNCHIES"?! While the leaders and interpreters got the children settled... not an easy task, when they know they are getting lots of stuff, we were blowing up balloons and getting ready to show them our magic, in a side room. We were warned that we would be swarmed.
As I peeked out the door, there was a little girl next to the door and she had braids! How perfect is that for Scrunchies?! I thought I could just slip them on and get a smile, well, I almost got her killed! The "SWARM" landed on HER with everyone grabbing at her braids, then the leaders were looking for the gang leader... Great, my first missions trip and I'm already in trouble.
