I would be tweeting about the discount fabric website I just came across. Check out the drapery fabric category (some 250 selections) at great discounted prices. And, they will send you a sample, for a small fee. Buyfabrics.com is my pick of the week!
Be sure to look at all of the fabrics, they have many with the baby in mind, such as toys and trucks, elephants and more. For a more sophisticated theme, they have the toille, bold stripes and even pastel animal prints.
Consider doing a reverse print for the bumper. There is a darling elephant print. Using the 'pink elephant' on the white back-round for the inside of the baby bumper and the 'white elephant' with the pink back-round for the outside of the baby bumper. A small pink and white dot for the crib sheet and the skirt, adding a solid pink band on the bottom edge of the skirt, repeating the same solid pink for the bows and ties. For an extra fitted crib sheet make it in the solid pink.
With our DIY Make Room for Baby Kit the sky is the limit. Have fun, find the fabric that makes you feel creative and excited to get started. Designing your own 'one of a kind' crib set, is simply finding what you like, taking two or three fabrics and mixing and matching. (If you don't sew, but would love to learn, there is usually a mom or grandmother in the family who would love to pass on that pleasure.
Remember, in every stitch goes a hug & a kiss!
